Lunar Society hosts superb Annual Dinner

The Lunar Society hosted its extremely well-received 2024 Annual Dinner at Copt Heath Golf Club in Warwickshire on 19 September 2024, welcoming guests with links to business, politics, education and culture, including the Lord Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Shahin Ashraf MBE.

The evening began with a reception, in which Lunar Society members and guests were able to speak with each other while listening to some fantastic piano playing.

Guests were then invited to dinner, where they enjoyed a sumptuous three-course meal while chatting with their fellow delegates.

After dinner, we were delighted to welcome our guest of honour, the writer, television and cultural historian, Dorothy Hobson, who was interviewed by former Chairman of the BBC Trust, Sir Michael Lyons.

The topic of discussion was ‘The future of television’, and Dorothy gave her thoughts on current trends such as streaming, misinformation, funding in the Midlands and much more. Dorothy then took some thought-provoking questions from the audience, before Lunar Society Chair, Clive Stone, drew the evening’s raffle winners and brought the evening to a close.

Clive commented: “We had a wonderful evening with some fascinating debate around a subject that garnered some passionate views. I’d like to thank all of our guests for joining us and taking part, especially our sponsors. They made for a truly memorable evening.”
