SECRETARIAT SERVICES

The Lunar Society is reviewing its Secretariat arrangements having regretfully accepted the resignation of Clarke Associates who, for the past seven years, have supported the Society with secretariat, membership, event, and communication facilities.

The Society is therefore, embarking on a recruitment and appointment process and would be interested to hear from organisations or individuals that might relish such a role. It is quite possible, with the range of skills required, that it would suit multiple operators.

The areas of responsibility include Administration Support; Event Management; Membership Communication and Development; Marketing, PR and Public Affairs, and Fundraising and Sponsorship.

We believe this is an exciting opportunity for those who would like to work in partnership with The Lunar Society which has grown in stature during the past several years and indeed, whose reach, membership and influence has been significantly extended.

The timing is appropriate as the Society embarks on its next phase of an exciting development with the implementation of the Society’s new three-year Business Plan which has recently been adopted by the Executive Committee and which will shortly be shared with the membership.

The process is being overseen by the Chair, Deirdre LaBassiere, Vice-Chair Dr Peter Borg-Bartolo, Hon. Secretary Clive Stone with the intention for the transition to be fully completed by the time of the Society’s Annual General Meeting on July 28, 2021. David Clarke of Clarke Associates has confirmed his firm will be entirely supportive during the transition – and that he and they will support the Society longer-term also.

If you would be interested in any aspect of this role, please email the Society at

info@lunarsociety.org.uk . Your email will be forwarded to the selection committee and should include a brief summary of your experience relevant to this role.

A detailed specification has been prepared that will be forwarded to appropriately qualified organisations and/or individuals.

Responses are requested by 7 June, 2021.
